Reverse: Don’t Tread on Me
The US Continental Marines used the image of a coiled timber rattlesnake ready to strike on a yellow field as a battle flag in the Revolutionary War. The Gadsden Flag, as it came to be called, was designed by Christopher Gadsden in 1775. Beneath the rattlesnake is the words “Don’t Tread on Me.” Our rendition of this iconic national symbol sets the rattlesnake against a background of radiant sun rays.
